Sketches from Sweden! I would have taken an “after” picture of my travelogue sketchbook if it actually looked any different than when I left; it held up amazingly well. These are all the sketches and comics I made, I’ll do another post in a minute with the more finished stuff.

Sketchbook backlog

Well, it’s the hundredth post, but I had so much unposted stuff in my sketchbook that I wanted to get it out of the way first. So stay tuned for a celebratory hundred-and-first post!

Based on a photo of Stella, the beautiful daughter of my talented co-worker Maia.

I was really happy with the face in the upper left.

This happened a while ago in Remedy Teas on Capitol Hill. This is a mock-up for a comic about it.

And finally some affirmations. I have been reading through Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way (again), and though I’m not really “doing” the book the way I could be, I’ve picked up some of the exercises and routines. These affirmations are part of an exercise in the book.

Have I mentioned that I love my new brush pen? <3

Some sketches from the weekend. Slow Train is the hot new coffee shop in Oberlin (moonlights as a wine bar and music and performance venue).

Remember Harmony? I’ve been playing with it a bit. I was looking at some work by Yuko Ota, who draws Johnny Wander, and was inspired to draw some horns. I like how the twisty horns on that big, toothy guy came out.
